While I was nowhere near the marathon yesterday, I know many who were. I think I can speak for everyone by saying that all of us have been affected by this tragedy.
I couldn’t be happier about this warm weather. Well, except for this extra “winter weight” out there shuffling around, including myself.
I love few things more than the warm weather: family, running, baseball are also up there on my “love list.” So I certainly wasn’t going to miss out on a trip to sunny Clearwater with my guy and his family for a couple days of soaking in rays and getting a jumpstart on the 2013 Phillies season.
Today, for one day only, The Rock‘n’Roll Philadelphia Half Marathon is offering a $13 discount with the code LUCKY13. That’s a lot of 13’s: it is the 13th day of the month and I’m registering to run 13.1 miles in my overall quest to run 13 races in 2013.
While the chanting of “spring is almost here” kept me off the dreaded treadmill, the sense of spring I was feeling also duped me into signing up for my third of 13 races in 2013.
Spring is in the air in Philadelphia. OK, not really, but it was a wee bit warmer this past weekend and there are of course running reasons why this matters to me.
It may not be a run that is the key for you, but I’ll bet if you take some me time to find out what it is and you make it happen, you will thank yourself later!
In the interest of running 13 races in 2013, I found a different kind of race, and it negated my “all about me” mentality. Teams of two running in opposite directions for a couple laps around The Navy Yard.
I am often tempted to use the cold weather as a reason to not workout, but that isn’t going to make me any warmer, or fitter for that matter. So, I began my search for ways to take my workout indoors and still be enjoyable. What I found was an awesome alternative.
As I see it, you’re more likely to notice nuances and intricacies one may otherwise overlook if you explore a new city on foot.
