“If guns kill people then pencils misspell words, cars make people drive drunk and spoons made Rosie O’Donnell fat.”

That about sums up my feelings on gun control. For weeks now, sadly, since the massacre in Newtown, feeds have been saturated with the newest battle concerning the war on guns. I’m witnessing commercial spots from the NRA about gun safety countered by screams from the banshees, I mean Democrats, citing the NRA’s ignorance at using the president‘s daughters’ safety as a ploy. So now it’s being “asked” that the president change the Constitution. I do not think a ban on firearms would be logical, but revamping the guidelines as to who qualifies owning a gun is. It’s not a hard concept to understand, so why all the political bullshit and interference?
Does the government truly think that taking away a citizen’s right to bear arms is upholding the Constitution that they are sworn in to abide? Should we ban alcohol because of drunk drivers? Should we ban McDonald’s because you know that consuming mass quantities of Big Mac’s will most certainly give you a heart attack and diabetes? Should we ban beauty pageants because of Honey Boo Boo? Why are they taking away the liability of the gun owner? Is it not the person that pulls the trigger? Is it not the person who lights a match to start a fire?
If a background check reflects a history of menatal illness along with a criminal record in the immediate family, or those living in the household, then no permit shall be approved. I know it‘s not as simple as it sounds, being medical records are meant to be private, but if a person is going to apply for a firearm, then they need to be willing to open up that can of worms. I don’t care if you are buying rifle to hunt or a 9mm for protection, you must release the info of whether or not you are a schizophrenic. End of story.
Come on, folks, haven’t you learned by now that the more you want something changed, the louder your opposition gets and the more the original idea gets blown out of proportion; lost in translation? Next thing you know, your right has been taken away to say “God” or “Merry Christmas” in schools…oh wait….I’m tired of this already. There are so many other things that need the president’s attention, like where he’s going on his next vacation.
Where’s Nancy Reagan when you need her? She can start a campaign like nobody’s business.
