Philadelphia goes Gangnam Style thanks to local musician

If everyone from Ellen Degeneres to Britney Spears have been documented doing the "invisible horse" dance also known as Gangnam Style, why shouldn't one of our locals?

With the likes of Weird Al Yankovich, a local musician is leaving his mark on the music world. At least on YouTube, anyway. R&B musician Damon Hamilton’s spoof of the uber-popular Korean phenom, Gangnam Style, has gotten well over half a million views on the video sharing site.

It’s something that came as sort of a surprise to the professional musician who says the spoof was more of just an experiement than a serious attempt at music.

“I made pretty music for years with not much bite until five days ago, when I created a silly spoof, one that’s not even becoming of my music skill, when I suddenly went viral on YouTube,” Hamilton told Philly.com.

Hamilton’s legitimate musical talent can be seen at weddings with a band called Monte Carlo and his serious seven-member R&B ensemble, the Damon Hamilton Project.

But, in the mean time, we can all enjoy “Obama Style.”
