Ellie Mae, former homeless yard dog, is now a happy family member!
She had been dropped off at PAWS, Philadelphia’s largest rescue organization and only no-kill shelter, by a police officer on New Year’s Eve. The officer found Ellie Mae alone and neglected in the Frankford section of the city. She was undernourished, frightened, and appeared to have recently had puppies.
PAWS took her in and set her up in the kennels of our Spay/Neuter and Wellness Clinic, where they helped her regain her health and confidence. PAWS staff and volunteers worked with her daily to give her exercise, obedience training, and playtime to help her blossom into the happy girl she truly was meant to be.
After months of waiting, her perfect family came along – a young couple looking for their first dog together. She now lives happily in Conshohocken and is the joyful, confident dog we all new was her destiny. Her family sent us these photos from a recent trip to Valley Forge. We couldn’t be happier for Ellie Mae for finding such a great home!
