The dog days of summer goes to the cats at PAWS

Philly PAWS is looking to help their "purry" friends find their forever home and featuring an adorable Cheshire.

This is Cheshire, our featured adoptable pet this week.

Adoptions have been slow all summer at Philly PAWS for their feline residents who are left are wondering what’s taking their new families so long. They’re ready to pounce into their carriers and begin their new lives.

In an effort to find homes once and for all, PAWS is declaring August to be the Cat Days of Summer where all month long, adopters can name their own fees for PAWS cats and kittens.
Summer is the worst time to be a homeless cat in Philadelphia, with shelter intakes at their highest and adoptions at their lowest. This summer is no exception: every day, cats and kittens are flooding into the city shelter faster than they can be rescued. PAWS is dedicated to filling every available space with these at-risk cats, but our current residents must find homes in order for us to rescue more.
Maybe little Cheshire is the purrrfect cat for you. He’s a dashing 2-4 year old long-haired male who’s waiting at PAWS’ Adoption Center.
I was once a lonely, hungry stray, but after a few weeks in foster care I feel is like a new cat. I look like royalty and deserve to be treated like it, too! I’m good with kids and am even known to curl up in bed with them. Please come meet me – I’ve been waiting since February for a home of my own!
Meet your new best friend any day of the week at PAWS’ Adoption Center at 2nd and Arch Streets. You can also visit www.phillypaws.org/adopt for the application, available cats, adoption locations, and adoption hours.
