Anyone want to go party in Camden?

Listed as a top contender as one of the country’s most dangerous cities to live in, Camden, New Jersey, is laying off its entire police force. Of course they plan on hiring those back that wish to stay at a lower salary and train a new force of beat cops at an even lower pay scale. Logic behind this is that more foot patrol equals more protection on the streets and dismantle the currently corrupted department.

Sounds like a plan Stan, but this is Camden we’re talking about. A person’s shadow isn’t even safe.

I understand that they have already had an overload of eager participants, but to me, it’s like young, naive, innocent men and women who internally glorify enlisting in the armed forces believing they will make a difference, only to be thrown into the lions’ den to be torn apart. A pawn if you may. The residents of Camden aren’t stupid; they have street smarts beyond compare. So you throw in a new army of hot headed, we’ll “pump you up” types and it’s going to turn into an all-out war.

And let’s not forget the hospital and it’s doctors, nurses, and employees. Just how many of these new coppers are going to be focusing their attention on them? That’s Camden’s meal ticket; their safety cannot be jeopardized.

I’m at a loss. The big picture sounds like a delusional dream, and unless the new po-po are armed with oozies, machetes and nine lives, it’s going to be an epic fail.
