Owners Dave Garry and Heather Gleason and Chef Pat Szoke serve a host of fun, meal specials at The Industry, their newly opened neighborhood restaurant and bar. Named “The Industry” in homage to the restaurant hospitality business and as a tribute to the people who help make Philadelphia’s dining scene first-rate.
“The Industry is a spot for our South Philly neighbors, for people looking for a great bite and a drink and for the talented professionals who work ‘in the biz’ in the Philadelphia area,” says Gleason, a veteran of the city’s booming restaurant business. “Our specials reflect our commitment to serving affordable, delicious food and drink.”
Chef Szoke has created a tasty special Monday Night Burger & Bubbles, as a way of featuring The Industry Burger, a quarter-pound ground brisket burger with lettuce, tomato, onion and pickled mayo. Guests can order the burger two ways: Fine Dining served with either a glass of sparkling cava or brut rose for $11; or Dive Bar served with a bottle of Miller High Life, “The Champagne of Beers,” poured tableside for $7.50.
The restaurant also features other great deals throughout the week including: Buckets of Champagne, available every Tuesday, featuring five-bottle buckets of High Life for $10 each; the city’s only public Staff Meal available every Sunday from 10 p.m. until 1 a.m. where guests can enjoy an ever-changing plate of the same meal served to the staff after the evening’s service, for $6 per plate; and In the Biz, a symbol of their commitment to all those who punch the clock for the hospitality business in the form of a 20% discount offered to all “industry” workers (with valid proof), seven days a week. The restaurant also serves food late, until 1 a.m. daily, and brunch throughout the afternoon, until 4 p.m., to accommodate the often unusual hours worked by industry folks.
The Industry’s open, dining room boasts a welcoming atmosphere, with comfortable areas for eating and lounging. Throughout the space, dramatic, original black and white portraits of local hospitality personalities, including chefs, brewers and front-of-house management, all photographed in their own “industry” environments, adorn the walls. The Industry’s décor features rustic touches, incorporating reclaimed wood throughout the space including custom dining tables, intricate ceiling lattice-work and an entire wall crafted from mixed timbers. The striking bar and communal dining table are crafted from pieces of walnut with live edges, showcasing the striking natural character of the tree.
The Industry serves dinner Monday through Sunday from 4 p.m. until 1 a.m., with the bar open until 2 a.m. Brunch is served every Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. For more information, plus specials, promotions and other goodies, please call (215)-271-9500, visitwww.theindustrybar.com, follow them on Twitter (@theindustrybar) and like them on Facebook.
