Who was buried under Strawberry Mansion site?

A contractor doing work for the Department of Licenses and Inspections unearthed the bones and we're just dying (pun intended) to know the creepy story behind them.

Police investigate a woman's body that was found at a Strawberry Mansion demo site.

Demolition crews were given an eerie surprise while at work this week. As they were digging up a site in Strawberry Mansion, they came across some bones 2251 N. 33rd St. about 9:40 a.m on Tuesday.

Philadelphia, in general, is wrought with history and the bones could really be anyone or anything from God knows when.

The medical examiner’s office initially didn’t know whether the bones were that of a human or some kind of animal — wild or domestic. The lastest updates say they believe them to be of a woman.

The body was found in a plastic bag on the site of an abandoned four-story building that crew were contracted by the city to demolish, polices said.

Which begs the question…who could it be, and how did she get there?

NBC reports are saying neighbors told them they had smelled something foul for “some time” and the area is plagued with drug and prostitution problems. The crews on site told reporters they think the woman was dumped after after the building was taken down.

But, since were suckers for a good rumor and speculatory journalism (as is NBC, apparently), we’re encouraging our readers to share their theories about the unidentified remains. Give into your secret urges to be a CSI and tell us who this could be and how they ended up there. We’re all ears for the serious as well as the more sarcastic. We’ll feature some of the best in an upcoming post.
