Runner/walkers begin the 5k at the start line like a brand new pristine coloring book, they end looking like they fell into a Willy Wonka… tie dyed… vat of colored goodness.
Thursday: Screenings Under the Stars
Picture it! The RiverStage at Penn’s Landing is transformed into an outdoor theater for another season of Screenings Under the Stars. Every Thursday night in July and August, a different popular film will be featured on a big screen on the new RiverStage at Penn’s Landing, located on Columbus Boulevard at Chestnut Street. The screenings will begin at dusk or approximately 8:30 p.m. in July and 8:00 p.m. in August. As with all events at Penn’s Landing, the screenings are FREE. Friday: The Alchemical Quest
Join the Chemical Heritage Foundation for First Friday’s for the opening celebration of The Alchemical Quest, a new exhibit featuring rare books drawn exclusively from the collections of CHF’s Othmer Library. Tom Twardowski will bring alchemical endeavors into the 21st-century lab with a series of live demonstrations, and curator James Voelkel will speak about the exhibit’s creation and his work as CHF’s curator of rare books.
Saturday: A Star-Spangled Night
Head back to Penn’s Landing this Saturday for one final July 4th fireworks spectacular.
If you didn’t get your fill last night, Penn’s Landing will be hosting A Star-Spangled Night with the United States Army Band “Pershing’s Own”. The event will feature lots of live music followed by fireworks salute. It will all go down starting at 7:30 at Penn’s Landing.
Sunday: The Color Run
The Color Run is a one of a kind experience that is less about speed and more about enjoying a color crazy day with your friends and family. For our events, it is about participants of all different speeds, ages, shapes, and sizes toeing the start line. Whether you are a casual morning mall walker or an Olympic athlete, the 3 miles of the Color Run course will be the most enjoyable real estate you’ve traveled in a VERY long time.
Registration to run is already at capacity but you can still line up to watch the walkers/running get blasted with color. At each kilo marker another color will be shot in the air splattering the passersby with fun, bright, colors.
