Milton Rojas had so many drugs in his body that a medical examiner told a Philadelphia court that it was like he was a drug mule, or someone who smuggles drugs in their body.
The 9-month-old boy died of a drug overdose that prosecutors say is the fault of two people who were babysitting him – Oscar Sanchez-Rivera, 24, and Viameri Santana-Berrios. According to a report in the Daily Mail, Municipal Court judge James M. DeLeon ordered Sanchez-Rivera to stand trial on murder, conspiracy and child endangerment charges, while Santana-Berrios will go on trial on third-degree murder charges. She was given bail of $150,000.
Paramedic Dale Schroder, who was called to the home last July after the baby was reported as being unresponsive, told the court that he recognized “track marks” normally found on drug addicts when he as trying to revive Rojas. Needle marks were found on the baby’s hands and feet, and undigested heroin and cocaine was in his body.
