Celebrate the first day of summer with a refreshing cocktail al fresco

From secluded patios and sidewalk seating to winnebago bars and riverfront tables, Philadelphia has plenty of drinking wells to help you celebrate summer.

PYT's Winnebago Bar is just one way to celebrate summer today.

Today officially marks the first day of summer…and you’d know it, too, with the incredible heat outside. And, some would say there’s really only two ways to beat it. 1. Lock yourself indoors with the comfort of your A/C on blast. 2. Hit the closest local bar with seating outdoors where you’ll stay cool with a refreshing cocktail. Here’s some suggestions for places to beat the heat with a drink in hand.

Jack’s Firehouse: A lovely garden patio sits beside this converted firehouse in the Art Museum Area 5 Blocks from PMA, 100 feet from the Eastern State Penitentiary Historic Site.

Barbuzzo: The popular Mediterranian spot is screaming for guests to relax outdoors. The outdoor seats nearly double the room of this 13th Street restaurant. May we recommend the Little Italian Redhead? It’s vodka, aperol, and a refreshing, cool, crips housemade lemonade.

Rittenhouse Tavern: Just steps from the park, this hot spot offers a secluded little garden tucked away. As for refreshing drinks, the sparkling wine list is where it’s at. Summertime and bubbles…a match made in heaven.

Mexican Post (Love Park): One word: Margartitas.

Percy Street Barbecue: If an ice cold brewsky is your summertime drink, head here. They have a selection of more than 80 canned beers.

PYTAll we should have to say about the outdoor drinking at this NoLib burger joint is…Winnebago Bar.

Cavanaugh’s River Deck: All seats are riverside at this party spot. Every Thursday they host a special Can Jam with beer specials and a live DJ all night.

Tapestry: This joint boasts “Beer. Booze. Bites” and with an impressive rotating roster of 24 craft brews, equally stellar cocktails and plenty of wood slat tables make for great outdoor sipping.

Tria Wine Room: Tria Wine Room is simple—a place to hang out with friends over a glass of wine and a snack. A wine bar for the people. There’s beer too. But there’s no television, entertainment, games or even wifi.
