There are fewer things in this world that say, “summer time in the city” like mini-golf. The little alley ways of perfectly placed plastic grass with mind-boggling twists, turns, and obstacles that make you wonder how you’re supposed to get that little, brightly-colored ball to the hole. The lines of others with their little golf putters, the strange accents the course seems to bring out, and the obvious cheaters who just can’t get past that pesky windmill.
So, when officials from University City say that a FREE…yes totally free mini-golf course will open in just a few weeks, our little hearts start to flutter with glee and our blood pumps with fury as our competitive nature kicks in.
What’s more? An open-air beer garden, that’s what! Oh yea, University City is where it’s at in July.
Throughout the entire month of July, the Porch will play host to a mini golf course open from 10 a.m.-8 p.m., every single day of the week. And, in case you didn’t catch it earlier… it’s totally free!
Balls and clubs will be provided, but skillz are something you’ll have to bring in on your own. At the end of your ass-kicking, you can turn in your filled-out score card to be entered to win a $500 gift card to Dick’s Sporting Goods.
And, in the midst of all of that, for three days (July 12-14), the Porch will transform into an outdoor beer garden. There will be live music, craft beer and Bridgewater’s Pub’s delicious food at 30th Street Station. If you’ve never been to Bridgewater’s before, it’s very beer festival friendly. Thinks like bratwurst, sauerkraut and Italian sausage sandwiches will be cranked out. The garden will be open from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, July 12; noon-8 p.m. on Friday, July 13; and noon-5 p.m. on Saturday, July 14.
Let the countdown to July begin…
