America’s Doctor is coming to Philadelphia to give us all a “15 Minute Physical.” Dr. Mehmet Oz, the Emmy Award-winning host of The Dr. Oz Show, is partnering with Temple University Health System, Alere Inc. and Practice Fusion Inc. to provide the quick physicals to an estimated 1,000 people in Philadelphia on May 19.
The physicals are a quick series of screening tests to determine levels of cholesterol, triglycerides and blood glucose. As the tests are being conducted, Practice Fusion will perform real time data analytics to determine averages, rends and other significant data points for this random sample of Philadelphians. This will help the organizers determine just how at risk we are for two major killers – heart disease and diabetes, according to a PR Newswire story.
“We teach a lifestyle of prevention on The Dr. Oz Show,” said Oz. “We are showing Philadelphia the problems that you can discover in just 15 minutes. Avoiding the consequences of high blood pressure and cholesterol are equally simple and can save lives, but it starts with awareness. While some cities do better than others, the average blood pressure, cholesterol level and waist size in this country are not optimal, in fact it’s dangerous. This is what we will demonstrate on May 19 and show Philadelphians what they can do about it.”
Five lucky viewers of The Dr. Oz Show will also be selected to have a one-on-one consultation with the TV host following their “15 Minute Physical.”
Registration will be capped at the first 1,000 people, with anyone after that being put on a waiting list. You can register online at www.doctoroz.com.
