Thursday: Philadelphia International Children’s Festival
The 28th annual Philadelphia International Children’s Festival will be Thursday, May 3 – Saturday, May 5. Enjoy family-friendly music, theatre and dance performances, as well as a host of fun and interactive activities in the FUN ZONE on the Outdoor Plaza including crafts, face painting, jugglers and more!
Tickets are just $10. And, families attending performances on Saturday, May 5 can buy a $25 Children’s Festival Fun Pass and enjoy three shows, access to the Children’s Festival Fun Zone and a lunch for only $25.
Friday: May the 4th Be With You at the Please Touch Museum.
Dress as your favorite Star Wars characters and enjoy space- and Star Wars-themed activities and programming, including visits from characters…good and bad.
Events include a Far Far Out Dance Party in Hamilton Hall, End of the Day Imperial March led by Star Wars villains, black light art activity and more.
Take a look at the museum’s collections cases full of antique and contemporary Star Wars paraphernalia, too.
Saturday: Philadelphia Wine Festival
In its 11th year, The Philadelphia Wine Festival continues to be one of the most anticipated tasting events in the Philadelphia region. The evening will be hosted at a venue of national acclaim — Lincoln Financial Field, SCA Club. Here,Philadelphia magazine and PA Wine & Spirits Stores partner to bring together a fantastic selection of wineries from around the world –all in Philadelphia, for one night only. Don’t miss the chance to taste hundreds of wines, those you’ve loved for years, or new wines you’ll discover at the Festival. Purchase your favorites in the on-site PA Wine & Spirits Store, or place your special order.
A silent auction, benefiting The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, will take place during the entire evening. Guests can bid on rare and spectacular items throughout the night – all for a great cause. Guests of both tastings will each receive a commemorative 2012 Philadelphia Wine Festival wine glass, courtesy of Lexus, and a tasting book with room for tasting notes.
Sunday: Philadelphia Burger Brawl
20 of Philadelphia’s top chefs will all be cooking up their best burger in hopes of winning the 2nd annual Philadelphia Burger Brawl. “Philly’s Best Burger” will be selected by celebrity judges including Food Network host Marc Summer. Tickets are $75 and include tasting of all burgers, one vote for your favorite burger, drinks from Dogfish Head brewery and Jim Beam Devils Cut and desserts. Best of all, all proceeds go towards the building of the Meredith Public Elementary School’s Computer lab.
