So, it’s official…almost. Our parking tickets are one step closer to being able to be fought without appearing in person. I know, right?!
A City Council committee approved the new plan despite objections from the folks that deal with the appeals. But, who cares about those idiots. We can contest parking tickets without dragging our sorry, lazy asses to the Bureau of Administrative Adjudication at 9th and Filbert Streets in Center City.
And, get this. They are allowing phone and online appeals currently. But, one day, they hope to take them via Skype as well. Councilman Bill Green says it would be an easy and effective method.
“We won’t have to build any equipment in our system whatsoever,” Green says. “Those conference calls can be recorded, and the record will exist for later appeal through the use of modern technology.”
How cool is that?
If the plan is approved by the full council, which will vote next month, I think I might go out and get myself a parking ticket just to be able to appeal it from the toilet or while eating pizza for breakfast. Who knows, maybe I’ll run into the Parking Wars folks. I’ll definitely invite them back to my place where they can catch my appeal from the comfort of my down comforter.
