What happens when Philadelphians don’t sleep: an exclusively Philly web app

Some random guy couldn't sleep, so he whipped up this little web app for Philadelphian's and after playing around on it for a bit, we gotta admit...it's kinda fun! See what exactly it is, how it works and maybe submit a photo of your own.

See? A map with photos.

A few nights ago at 12:45 a.m. “Mike-1″ posted an unassuming link on the Philadelphia Speaks forum under the title “I had insomnia again…created this Philly web app.”

So, we had to take a look. And, what we found was actually kind of cool…or creepy. We haven’t made up our minds yet.

It’s a map of Philadlephia with teeny-tiny little photos of famous sites around Philadlephia. Some are super famous like City Hall. Others are only famous to the person who sent it in like the one we found labeled “Back Door Entrance” with a photo of a staircase.

What is really cool though is if you find a true monument that you like, take City Hall for example, you can click on all the little photos all around to get different angles and points of view from various points on the map.

We don’t know the practicality of this…maybe just as another social media outlet, but it is fun to play around with. Who knows, maybe we have the next version of Pinterest on our hands.
