PAWS found homes for six urgent adoptable pets, makes room for six more

PAWS no-kill shelter has been running a "Name Your Own Adoption Fee" promotion for a few weeks and with it's success, more pets are closer to finding forever homes.

Six “urgents” have already been adopted since PAWS started their “Name Your Own Adoption Fee” promotion, making room on the list for six more.

We told you about the program just two weeks ago and since then, three pets were adopted. The urgent list now includes Maeve, Sammie and Shadow, too. But, one of the original 12 urgent adoptable pets is still waiting for her forever home.

Teena is a lovely 2-4 year old pit bull mix with a heart of gold. She loves to be held and hugged, and especially likes to lay across people’s laps and get belly rubs. She’s very laid back and mellow, so she’ll adjust easily to home life. Before she came to the shelter she was found hiding behind a grocery store, underweight, suffering from fleas and hair loss, and very frightened. Since she’s been safe at PAWS, she’s done a wonderful job of building her confidence. After just a few weeks of TLC, she’s like a new dog! Now that she knows how nice it is to receive kindness, she can’t get enough – once she knows that you won’t hurt her, she’s all wiggles and kisses.

Teena is urgent because she needs the one-on-one love and attention of an adopter to build on the confidence-building progress she’s made so far at PAWS.

PAWS is continuing their promotion where you name the adoption fee for one of the pets on the urgent list.

Remember, PAWS is a no-kill shelter, so being on an urgent list doesn’t mean they will be sent to get euthanized, rather, they have been in the shelter longer than experts are comfortable with. Shelter life isn’t easy, and these pets can come down with depression and sadness if they stay too long.

Not to mention, their is a limited number of pets PAWS can house at one time, so when one animal is adopted, that means another space opens up for an animal in need…possibly one that is being kept in a kill shelter.
