If you’ve had business with a Cherry Hill, N.J. man named “Wiz,” you may not be able to reach him for awhile.
An indictment was unsealed last week against Wiz – a.k.a. Wayne Johnakin, age 45 – charging that he supplied a large amount of coke for a Virginia man to sell for him.
Prosecutors said Johnakin had provided the cocaine – which came from California – to Otis Lee Reese of Portsmouth, Va.
Reese allegedly would pick up the product from Johnakin in Philadelphia and sell it back in his home state – then pay Johnakin a large part of the sale proceeds.
The indictment says this kind of activity took place from September 2005 through Dec. 9, 2006.
On Dec. 8, 2006, specifically, Johnakin is supposed to have distributed – and Reese is supposed to have possessed – approximately 509 grams of cocaine mixture – a little over a pound.
Prosecutors also say Johnakin distributed approximately 1.19 kilos on Dec. 13 of that year. Reese does not face a connecting charge in that incident
U.S. Attorney Zane David Memeger said both men are charged with one count apiece of conspiracy to distribute five kilograms or more of cocaine. In addition, Johnakin is charged with two counts of cocaine distribution and Reese is charged with one count of possession with intent to distribute cocaine.
With all these charges, Johnakin could get 20 years to life in prison if he’s convicted, as well as a $16 million fine and a lifetime of supervised release. Reese would face the same possible prison time, plus a $12 million fine.
