A woman in Limerick Township allegedly ran her car into a man while he was mowing his lawn, according to The Mercury of Pottstown.
Police have charged Megan Marie Rossi, 24, of Tristen Way in Schwenksville, of driving while under the influence of prescription drugs, after her 2005 Buick Rendezvous crashed through a split-rail fence on Laver Road at about 12:30 p.m. on Nov. 6.
Investigators said Rossi’s car was approaching a driveway when her SUV rammed through the fence and onto a lawn, hitting Karl Pedone, 54, as he rode on a mower. The impact threw him onto the hood of the car, according to the Montgomery County District Attorney’s office and Limerick Township Police department.
The car stopped in a flower bed, then reversed back out to onto the roadway.
The man is still in serious condition at a Philadelphia hospital, “where he is only able to communicate by blinking his eyes,” authorities told the Inquirer.
Prosecutors said Rossi tested positive for a combination of prescription drugs, such as Nordiazepam, Oxazepam, Clonazepam, Alprazplam, Oxycodone and 7-Amino Clonazepam, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.
Police say she also may have been using a mobile phone at the time of the crash.
